All of us have feelings of being down. Life happens, and it is not always the way we would hope. Feelings of depression are often a very normal human experience to events that happen to us that are far less than we would have hoped. Sometimes, however, the feelings can be so intense and unrelenting that you may have a medical condition that is, at least in part, to blame. But more often than not, depression occurs simply as a result of terrible events that happen to us.
The drug companies would love to tell you that the cure for depression is to pop some pills. This gives them money. Did you know that major drug companies often pamper doctors and medical people in order to curry favor to push their medications? In fact, Pfizer was recently sued because they would take doctors on posh vacations to luxury resorts. "Welcome, Doctor. How is your Washington DC Therapy Practice? Here Enjoy some luxury, the spa is free, and the golf here at our 5 star resort is amazing.....oh and by the way....make sure you tell your patients that their depression is medical and prescribe them our new drug!"
Yea its corrupt isn't it? But so true. Drug companies all the time pamper doctors so they can turn around and prescribe their meds to patients that don't really need it.
I remember once when I lost someone close to me, I was overwhelmed with grief. I went to a therapist a few days later who said I needed medication!! Are you kidding me? I just lost a loved one....don't you think its NORMAL for me to feel sadness? I do not need to pump myself full of drugs to mask pain. This is no different than someone feeling sad going to a bar and drowning out his sorrows, or pumping his veins with heroin....sure he'll feel better....but is it HEALTHY? No.
Injesting drugs simply because you are depressed is NOT healthy. Drugs are always a LAST resort. If you are depressed, it doesn't mean there is something wrong with you. Non-drug therapy is exactly what you need.
